WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

 

SPS Commerce's Fulfillment team works on the heart of our product - a highly scalable, highly available cloud-based web application which allows the end users to manage their pipeline in the retail supplier chain, processing a hundred million of documents a year. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will likely be building Python based with some parts of Java based, cloud-native systems within an open and agile environment.

 

You will be busy! You will work closely with Product Management and others to understand and then translate business requirements into software design and deliverables. You will be part of a true scrum development team tasked with introducing new concepts and technologies into the product. You'll have the tools and team to deliver fully functional code to our production environments. That means, you'll have an understanding of how the stack works, making you a better developer with skills that go beyond a "simple coder". You'll be familiar with all the modern tools for software development in a cloud environment.

 

We aren't very good at resting on what we have already done when there are new ideas to explore that could make our solution better, stronger, faster and more efficient. We are pretty serious about that job responsibility that says you are responsible for bringing new technical ideas to our attention.

 

SPS Commerce is just the right size - past the start-up phase but still growing 20-30% a year. Complex problems to solve, ever changing technology to consider and test out, a management team that works side-by-side with you and enjoys staying in the technical details to solve the complex business and technical problems facing SPS Commerce, and a yard to play in right downtown.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Build high-volume cloud-based product with the 99.99% availability.

Participate in modules design

Bring into the product the latest software engineering best practices.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

1-3 years software development experience in a professional setting.

Good communication, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

English level (read/write/speaking) intermediate or higher

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently (flexibility).
