Accountability

To provide discipline specific technical expertise at a technical authority level, in support of the Sakhalin II, PA-A (Molikpaq) Drilling Rig Upgrade Project.

To ensure that all project risks affecting start up requirements are identified, assessed and mitigated against and closed through achieving ALARP risk levels.

Responsible for design, specification and services related to Piping Design.

Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice.

Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 8+ years related experience.

At this level, individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems efficiently and economically.

Requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related disciplines. May have contributed inventions, patents, and new designs or techniques which are regarded as major advances, or which significantly reduce professional services hours on projects.

As a Senior, must be able to organize, coordinate and control the portion of project Incumbents at this level will usually hold a certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer.

To provide discipline Conceptual, Front End and Detailed Design input to Brownfield engineering projects, technical support studies as requested, engineering support to the construction / commissioning phases as necessary and providing engineering support to maintenance and operations as requested.

Basic Functions

Proficient in PDMS and Autocad.

To carry out pipe support design / modelling using MDS from stress sketches and loads supplied from the stress engineer.

To have a good understanding in the principals of brownfield piping and plant layout

To coordinate with the Piping Designer, Stress Engineer and the Structural Engineer on the development of pipe support design.

To prepare Pipe Support Drawings using MDS Draft.

To check Pipe Support Drawings.

To prepare Material Take Off.

To mentor junior nationals in PDMS operation and Pipe Support Design.

To carry out document searches via LiveLink and Documentum.

Ensure job tasks are correctly performed, with no impact on cost or schedule.

Offshore and Onshore survey trips are required.

Conversant with International Piping Codes and Standards.

Skills and qualifications:

Must to have experience of piping engineering/design within a design office or site environment.

Self-motivated individual, able to work in both small and large engineering team environments.

Able to provide innovative, fit for purpose, solutions whilst meeting basic client engineering requirements.

Ability to clearly explain the technical elements of good pipe support design.

Team worker; Self-Starter; Delivery focus; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to work in teams and liaise with other discipline engineers in a multicultural environment.

The candidate shall be a proficient user of PDMS.

The candidate shall be a proficient user of AutoCAD.

The candidate shall be a proficient user of MDS.

Will demonstrate self-integrity when working to project plans and budgets.

8+ years’ experience in the Piping Design field of an engineering design environment in Petrochem / O&G industry, preferably brownfield.

1+ years’ experience on Drilling Assets required.

Conceptual, Front End and Detailed Design experience required.

Field experience in construction and commissioning strongly preferred.

Experience in an Engineering Design Company/ Russian Design Institute desirable.

Shell DEP experience preferred.

Experience in onshore/offshore projects in cold/remote regions is advantageous.

Ability to check piping deliverables in a 2-D and 3-D environment.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Formal training in AutoCAD and PDMS (preferable) or PDS.
